Tom Elliff, you have disappointed me. When I heard you had "Seven Questions You Should Ask an Atheist" I was interested and excited to see if you, unlike all the other theists had actually complied a set of questions that would after reading with critical* and open mind give me reason to re-evaluate my atheist** understanding of the world. Unfortunately your questions are nothing new or original. Any atheist with two neurons to rub together would have no trouble answering your questions.

*I did not just look at your questions to find faults, I searched hard (very hard) for their merits.
**There is most likely no God or Gods, and if there is a God it is almost certainly not your God.

I come from a very religious Christian family, I've read the bible. I've also read the Qur'an, the Tanakh, and the Dhammapada. I have done research on many religions. I have homosexual friends. I have Atheist friends, Christian friends, Pagan friends and Agnostic friends. They are good people and shouldn't be judged by a certain kind of followers.

I am an Atheist because I HAVE known God's word, as well as other god's words. I have prayed to God to show me that he does exist, and to change my mind about my beliefs. Since then I have come to accept the fact that it is not in my character to believe in higher beings. This was not a choice for me. I cant help the fact that I analyze and question everything. It's in my nature.

That being said, after reading the bible I know that there is a lot of issues that God takes a stand against that I find intolerant and ridiculous.

The only thing I ask of anyone, is that they judge me based on how well they know me. Nothing more. How could you know my thoughts? My morals? My Philosophies?

Thank you for your time.

1. Are you certain you are an atheist?
I am certain that It is not in my character to believe in a higher being.

2. Are you aware that actual evidence for God does exist? I'm aware of the evidence that is proposed, but I don't find it believable.

3. Do you know why many people choose to be atheists?
Many people do NOT chose to be atheists. Many Atheists simply accept the fact that not believing in a higher being is a part of who they are. It's as natural as being left handed or being homosexual.

4. How much of the Bible have you actually read?
I have read the bible in its entirety. I have also read the Qur'an, The Dhammapada and the Tanakh. I was raised in a Christian family and I have researched a lot of different beliefs.

5. Do you know the word used in the Bible to describe an atheist?
(Ps. 14:1) basically calls the non believers fools.
how could you judge me without knowing me? Why would you let your opinions on me be based on your own prejudice?

6. Would you allow me to share how you can know God?
I know how you can know God. As a child a read the bible and asked God to let me believe in him, too change the way I thought about religion...it didn't help.
I moved on.

7. Would you allow me to pray for you, either now or at a later date?
Feel free to pray for me. I'm glad that you are truly concerned about my well being.

If you are seriously interested in the person that I am and my beliefs, I WILL post my email address even though this comment box says that it will not be published. I will publish it on my own free will If anyone would like to contact me.

Bobby Myers,

Show my one shred of evidence that the god of your bible is even real to begin with. Then explain why he condones and even orders so many morally corrupt things. Last, explain why all the evidence points towards a natural explanation for life. Then maybe I will consider your god.

Also, way to close out your comment with the fallacy that is Pascal's wager. You should really check this out: http://www.teenageatheist.com/2010/06/pascals-wager.html

These last two comments are a prime example of "lost souls" that we all need to be praying for. It breaks my heart to see that even here on Brother Tom's site that there are people who stand disobedient in front of God. It is just sad to realize that so many people in this world will never enter Gods Great Kingdom, and it is by their own choice!!! I will never claim to be anything close to perfect, it took me almost 30 years to come to know The Lord, so I too was once lost, but I pray that there is still time for you all to CONFESS and REPENT!!! For those who do not believe in God, please just remember this, "I would rather live my life as if there IS a God, and die to find out that there's not, than to live my life as if there is no God, and die to find out that there IS."

I truly enjoy reading and hearing your messages Brother Tom, as I told you a few months back after a Wed. night service at FBC Seminole, I truly believe the Lord speaks through you, I have thought so since the first time I heard you share the Gospel several months ago at FBC. I cannot begin to thank you enough for opening my eyes to so many things that I needed to change for the good of not only my spiritual life, but also my family life here on earth. We at FBC have been truly blessed by your presence among us these past few months, I meant what I said this past Wed. night, you have given our pastor search team an incredibly high standard to meet in finding our new pastor!!! I pray for nothing short of amazing things for Jeannie and you in the future, hope you will come and bless us with your presence again very soon, THANK YOU SO MUCH BROTHER TOM!!!!!!!!
